Petals - Artistry by Kimberly Henry

Painting has not always been a part of my life, although now I wouldn't know what to do with out it. My first taste of art was as a sophomore in high school; merely as a way of getting out of taking a foreign language. My teacher, Mr. Okumura, saw something in my projects and took me under his wing. I was then sent with the advanced art students to work with charcoals and pastelsand by the end of that school year i had painted a mural in the science building.

After a few years of painting only in class I started working on my art at home and realized the freedom and peace it gave me. It became my therapy as I released all of my emotions on canvas.

My focus is mostly on flowers, or as some would say, " portraits of flowers". I have never grown tired of the subject because I have found that the beauty in a flower is so often unappreciated.
